Photographer’s Statement: I have always been in love with the harbor, any harbor, big or small. My favorite movie as a preteen was the 1954 film, On the Waterfront. As a youth I’d spend many hours exploring the docks, talking with the sailors, perhaps being given a watermelon off of one of the small produce boats arriving from the Eastern Shore, sometimes even managing to get a tour of an ocean-going vessel. As I grew older the lure of the harbor never left. Hopefully, that love is captured in these photos.
Process: Process: The first series of images are deeply structure, “bleached,” and color toned. The black & white are rendered from a color image after processing, and then enhanced and “toned” with a digital filter. The second series are rendered much as a color print would be.
